One Giant Leap Apollo Eleven

For young readers fascinated with space, this simple, clear, and attractively illustrated story of the July 20, 1969 moon landing of Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin is great! The story is told in short sentences that are both informative and poetic. Each two-page spread is half text and half images. The images are feathery, impressionistic paintings that alternate between hues of blue (the moon) and green (the cockpit). The story prose and images build dramatically and thoroughly engage the reader. My son loves everything about space and astronauts and this is one of his favorite books!
